VIDEO: Kalafi Moala talks up rift between PasiMA and PINA

21 October 2010

Kalafi Moala, vice-chair of the Pacific’s new media freedom group PasiMA, delivered the keynote speech at the 2010 Pacific Islands Media Association (PIMA) conference in Auckland in October.

Reporting for Pacific Scoop, AUT student journalist Eva Evguenieva asked Moala what set PasiMA (Pasifika Media Association) apart from Suva-based PINA and what led to its formation.

Moala said unlike PINA, PasiMA was not based in Fiji and Samoa-based PasiMA would not be silent over erosions into media freedom in the Pacific region.

Eva Evguenieva is a Postgraduate Diploma in Communication Studies student on the Asia-Pacific Journalism course at AUT University.
