AUCKLAND (Radio 95bFM The Wire/Southern Cross/Pacific Media Watch): The arrival of the Universitas Gadjah Mada team for a two-week research exchange is the focus of the Pacific Media Centre's weekly Southern Cross radio programme.

Pacific Media Watch freedom project editor Kendall Hutt talks with Dr Budi Irawanto, a member of the university's Centre for Southeast Asian Social Studies, about the significance of the team's visit for Indonesia and New Zealand.

Irawanto also talks about the relationship between disaster risk management and the media in the wake of volcanic eruption fears in Bali and Vanuatu and the status of media freedom in Indonesia.
