SUVA: A three day workshop educating community representatives how to use the media has been held at the Fiji Teachers Union hall in Suva.

The workshop, organised by the Fiji Media Watch organisation, was being conducted in the i-Taukei language.

Media Monitoring Coordinator Fulori Turaga said the main aim of the workshop was to inform and equip community members on using the media positively.

"It’s about time they wake up ,they realise this problem and equip themselves because if they can equip themselves they can take this information back to their communities back to their family and most importantly to their children. So in other words how to use the media positively and at the same time how to critically analyse the media and everything that is coming out of the media."

Around 50 people attended the workshop. - Fiji Broadcasting Corporation / Pacific Media Watch
