AUCKLAND: A lawyer and experienced broadcaster, Te Rau Kupenga (Ngati Porou), has become the first Māori to be appointed to New Zealand's Broadcasting Standards Authority.

Te Rau Kupenga is from the East Coast, Ngati Porou, and has been living in Wellington for the past few years.

Kupenga, who hosts Māori Television’s Maorioke and is a regular men’s panel guest on TVNZ’s Good Morning show, replaces newspaper journalist Tapu Misa who had been the four-member panel's Pacific member. - TangataWhenua.com/Pacific Media Watch
