SUVA (The Fiji Times/Pacific Media Watch) The cover price of The Fiji Times will increase by 10c from Monday, August 1.

The new price of The Fiji Times (Monday to Friday) will be 90c. The Saturday edition will be $1.

The price of The Sunday Times will be 90c from August 7. The prices apply Fiji-wide.

The titles are the most widely read newspapers in Fiji because of their solid reputation for balanced and credible local news coverage, comprehensive business and world news, the best sports coverage and information that helps readers make buying decisions.

The general manager/publisher of The Fiji Times, Brian O'Flaherty, said: "The price change could not be avoided because of increases in general production costs. The price of the newspapers has not changed since 2007 and we have been absorbing all cost rises, the impacts of devaluation, the rise in VAT, rising air and road delivery charges and other increases since then.

"This will help us to maintain the high standards readers expect from Fiji's leading newspaper titles."

The Fiji Times is the most read newspaper in the country with a daily readership of 72,993 (Monday to Friday) and a Saturday readership of 114,024. The Sunday Times has the country's third highest newspaper readership of 68,115 each Sunday.

The figures are from Tebbutt Research's most recent Fiji Media Survey.
