SUVA: Former Fiji Times editor-in-chief Netani Rika has considered taking up an offer from the Australian National University to write about the media industry, particularly between 2006 to date.
The Fiji Times was yesterday informed that ANU had, electronically, approached Rika last Tuesday, a day after his resignation was announced.
"I am considering it. It is a matter of interest to the journalism industry in the Pacific, everything that's going on," Rika said.
"I would like to focus on experiences of people in the media industry, and generally governance," he said of the proposed ANU-funded work.
"They (ANU) asked me to consider going [down] there and I am considering going [down]," Rika said.
However, he said he would not be able to do this until the New Year.
"I have things going on here. I have a writing going on? My thesis for my masters that will at least take three months. That is my first priority right now.
"That and putting some family things in order," Rika said.
"If I can complete all that by mid-December, I'll probably consider moving to Canberra for a short while." - The Fiji Times/Pacific Media Watch
