PORT MORESBY (PNG Today/Pacific Media Watch): The United Nations in Papua New Guinea and the Media Council of PNG have announced that a week-long journalist training will be conducted by Thomson Reuters.
The course is expected to accommodate 15 "well-committed and motivated" journalists within Papua New Guinea for the training.
This first-ever initiative is to further develop skills of journalists in Papua New Guinea to meet international standards and to equip them with better reporting capacities on some of the important issues in the country.
Training takes place between August 29 and September 2, 2016. Training subjects include reporting on children rights, gender-based violence, sustainable development goals, environmental issuesand reproductive health.
PNG-based journalists who have more than three years of work experience as a journalist and who belong to media outlets have been encouraged to apply.
