PORT VILA (Vanuatu Daily Digest/Pacific Media Watch): Vanuatu’s national broadcaster VBTC is officially advising viewers that the analog free-to-air signal of Television Blong Vanuatu will be switched off on October 15 for Port Vila and suburban areas.
Locals will need to acquire a new antennae and decoders to subscribe to Vanuamadia digital TV to continue watching local programming.
The subscription fee for viewers will be approximately NZ$88 (Vt$7,000), which includes a caution of NZ$63 (Vt$5,000) and a monthly usage fee of NZ$25 (Vt$2,000).
The decision is a joint business venture between VBTC and Chinese media company Guilin CEKE Communication Equipment Co Ltd.
