Doctoral candidate
Marie M'Balla-Ndi is a PhD candidate in journalism at the University of Queensland, and a Brisbane-based correspondent for the Francophone daily newspaper Les Nouvelles Caledoniènnes in Nouméa, New Caledonia.
She graduated with a Master in Journalism at the University of Queensland in November 2009 and entered her PhD program in January 2010. Marie’s Masters degree included a research thesis, which examined media practices in Fiji, Vanuatu and Samoa.
Her current PhD project attempts to identify and interrogate the impact of tradition and modernity on Pacific journalism practice in Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Samoa.
