SUVA: Australian travel journalists got a taste of Fiji at the weekend when they were hosted by the Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji Resort.
The journalists represented Brisbane News magazine, Woman's Day magazine, Sunday Age, Women's Health & Fitness magazine, The Border Mail and Australian Doctor magazine,
Their itinerary included a Sigatoka River safari, Vunareuoa village experience and Sigatoka sand dunes hike with resort's activities manager Kini Sarai.
Other highlights included a tour of the Tian Chinese Farm with executive chef Shailesh Naidu to highlight the diverse regional produce which is used at all of the resort's restaurants and treatments at the award winning Bebe Spa Sanctuary. Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said the resort's media programme was important in maintaining the profile of the resort and the Coral Coast in the Australian media.
"While Tourism Fiji is very pro-active in promoting Fiji as a destination, we feel that it is also important to maintain a high profile for Outrigger on the Lagoon," said Hopgood.
"Outrigger offers a unique and authentic Fijian experience which is largely attributed to the incredible team of staff that work at the property and it is important for us to communicate the high level of hospitality and five-star experience directly to the media."
Next month Outrigger will participate in a media visit from the American Society of Travel Writers Freelance Council. - The Fiji Times/Pacific Media Watch
