AUCKLAND (Pacific Media Watch): The Majuro Declaration as a bold new Pacific initiative on climate change was featured on the 95bFM radio programme The Wire today.
The declaration from the Pacific Islands Forum last week called on climate leadership "to be a game changer in the global fight against climate change".
Pacific Media Watch editor Daniel Drageset said on the programme that the declaration was intended to have a "symbolic" effect in inspiring other countries to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In the interview with The Wire's Maddie Farman, Drageset also discussed Fiji's comeback to the Pacific Islands Forum.
At the Forum last week, leaders decided to revisit Fiji's suspension from the Forum after "free and fair elections" have been held.
Elections in Fiji are expected to be held no later than September 2014.
