SUVA (Fiji Village / Pacific Media Watch): Fiji's Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, is expected to comment today on statements and reports about the conditions allegedly set out for the renewal of Fiji Television Limited’s broadcast licence.

The International Federation of Journalists and the Pacific Freedom Forum claim that the government has raised concerns about the coverage given to the “opposition” by Fiji TV.

The people in the opposition lineup, according to these organisations, include SDL leader Laisenia Qarase, Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry and others.

The IFJ and the PFF say in their statements that the management of Fiji TV has been put on notice that all the station’s content will be monitored this month and will influence the decision regarding the renewal of Fiji TV’s broadcasting license, due at the end of this month.

Sayed-Khaiyum says he will comment today.

Questions were also sent to Fiji TV chairman, Isoa Kaloumaira.
