NZ: PIMA conference plans DIY multmedia workshop

AUCKLAND:  The Pacific Islands Media Association (PIMA) conference in  Auckland next month will offer a range of workshops and discussion with the theme "A New Era'".

This means focussing on what technology means for traditional Pacific media and looking at what young people are doing with media.

If you want to learn how to podcast, make your own blog page, or make a music video clip shot on your cellphone, PIMA's two-hour workshop at AUT University on October 1 will take you through the process.

Find out what is the buzz that young people are making and doing online. This workshop will teach you how to get started posting online content.

Facilitators:
Sala'a Lologa is an ICT coordinator at Randwick Park School in Manurewa.  Sina Lologa is also a teacher who uses YouTube and movie-making in the classroom.  Their team wil include Pacific teenagers who will teach you:

- how to podcast

- make your own blog page

- make your own videos to put on YouTube.

- take images or make movies on your cellphone then edit them and post\ them online

Bring your own camera and if you have an Apple Macbook bring it along.

Date: Friday, October 1, 2010.
Where: AUT University, Auckland.
Price: $20 per person; $10 for students and PIMA members.
