SUVA: The New Zealand government and media should not waste their time speculating about whether the Fiji Prime Minister will attend the Rugby World Cup, says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama described weekend reports that he would attend the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand at NZ government expense as "rubbish".

He told FBC News he is not interested in visiting New Zealand.

There have also been speculative reports in New Zealand media that Bainimarama was aiming to become president of the Fiji Rugby Union – but the PM says this was not worth commenting on.

Last year some NZ media organisations also speculated on rumours that Bainimarama had died. - Fiji Broadcasting Corporation/Pacific Media Watch
