PORT MORESBY (PACNEWS/Pacific Media Watch): The Papua New Guinea Opposition has submitted another vote of no confidence for the fourth time this year against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Deputy Opposition Leader Sam Basil said the Opposition fulfilled the required number of signatures, which included 14 MPs, including the signatures of two Government MPs, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and Sumkar MP Ken Fairweather.
The Opposition has 14 members with the inclusion of the Member for Sinasina-Yogumugl Kerengua Kua who recently defected to the Opposition.
According to a PACNEWS report, Basil said the motion was resubmitted after the last two attempts had been ruled invalid by the Special Parliamentary Private Business Committee.
The motion was received by the Speaker, Theo Zurenouc and his deputy Aide Ganasi ,and seconded by Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
The notice will go through the parliamentary private business committee before it is announced in Parliament on Thursday.
This follows the recent University of Papua New Guinea boycotts from students protesting for Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to stand down to face corruption allegations.
