PORT MORESBY (Pacific Media Watch / The Age): The Age newspaper has obtained exclusive video footage of the attack on asylum seekers at the Manus Island detention centre.

Filmed by a hidden camera on 16 February 2014, the footage shows Group Four Security (G4S) guards attacking asylum seekers after they sought refuge in a building just inside the centre.

The attack left Iranian national Reza Barati dead and 77 other asylum seekers injured.

The footage also shows the crime scene the next day, which was apparently cleaned up by guards before evidence could be gathered.

Today the Australian Greens and the Labour Party said the Australian government must make public the interim report into the attack on the detention centre.

They accused Immigration Minister Scott Morrison of sitting on the information and failing to reveal to the public what had really happened in the deportation facility that day.
