REGION: Pacific doco festival calls for more film entries

PAPE'ETE: The 8th edition of the Pacific International Documentary Film Festival of Tahiti, the largest crossroads of the pictures of the Pacific, has called for more entries.

The festival will take place in French Polynesia (Papeete) from 24 - 30 January 2011. The entries deadline is October 1.

The competition is open to anyone having directed a documentary in Oceania in the previous three years.

Each year, FIFO selects, among more than 200 documentaries and films entered, the best productions. All films screened at the festival will be eligible for the ‘Audience Prize’.Only official selection films screened for the Festival Jury will be eligible for the ‘Jury Grand Prize’ and the three ‘Jury Special Prizes’. The award-winning filmmakers will also receive a cash prize.

The composition of the jury 2011 is in course of being finalised but the list includes:  Block de Fribert (France), Carol Hirschfeld (Maori Television - New Zealand), Emmanuel Kasarherou (New Caledonia), Jacques Martial (France), Hariet McKern (Australia), Florence Swamy (Fiji), Aruna Vasudev (India), Cay Wesnig (Germany).

No fees are involved for submitting film entries for FIFO 2011.
