REGION: PINA re-elected onto IFEX media freedom council

SUVA (Pacnews/Pacific Media Watch): Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) manager and training coordinator Matai Akauola has been re-elected as a member of the International Federation of Expression (IFEX) Council for a second term.

Pacnews reports that Akauola was one of five re-elected to the 12 member IFEX Council.

The other four organisations returning for another two years are: Centre for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) of the Philippines, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) of the United States, Media Rights Agenda (MRA) of Nigeria and Pakistan Press Freedom (PFF).

International Freedom of Expression (IFEX) members have unanimously agreed to support an International Day to End Impunity.
