SUVA: The Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) is considering rebranding itself.

The possible move is among several new developments, as the Suva-based organisation is about to release its strategic plan for 2011 to 2013.

PINA says its focus will be on constructive engagement with media associations across the Pacific.

Its Suva-based manager, Matai Akuola has told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat the organisation is also hoping to boost its membership and raise revenue.

"In the last 5 to 10 years, membership has gradually dropped with the advent of new technology coming into force," he said.

“We are also looking at developing and packaging PINA's service products in such a way that it could be revenue generating or getting money into PINA that is not donor funded. So in that instance we're also looking at partnerships with various other organisations." - PINA/Pacific Media Watch
