AUCKLAND (Asia Pacific Report/Pacific Media Watch): Final year Bachelor of Communication Studies student journalist Ashleigh McCaull at Auckland University of Technology talks to Green MP Catherine Delahunty about the West Papuan human rights violations and lack of New Zealand political and media interest.
Delahunty calls for stronger action from the NZ government and better coverage of the issue of the Indonesian-ruled Melanesian region from the media.
“If everybody understands the story, then they’re going to show the same solidarity as Pacific nations show for the West Papuan people,” she says.
