Alexander Winkler is an international student from Germany in AUT University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Communication Studies (Journalism) programme.
He is a graduate media producer, BA.hon from Hochschule Darmstadt in Germany where he is also studying for his Master’s degree in Media Production.
Before coming to New Zealand, he was an intern with Germany’s second largest broadcaster SWR and the Embassy of Canada to Germany. As part of AUT’s journalism programme, he also interned at Radio New Zealand News.
Since starting the journalism degree, Winkler covered stories from drug-abuse in forestry to an international student’s perspective on the Canterbury earthquake.
Winkler is the current editor of Te Waha Nui Online. In this role, he re-designed the website towards a cross-media publishing platform.
He is also on the Asia-Pacific Journalism course and he has reported on Pacific Scoop.
