Michael Neilson is a native of Christchurch, and moved north to Auckland in 2015 to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism at AUT University.
Having completed an Honours degree in politics at the University of Otago, Michael has a keen interest in all things political, with a special interest for development and trade issues in the Pacific.
He has previously written for Critic magazine at the University of Otago, and during his travels throughout South America in 2013/2014 he kept a blog covering everything from the political climate to where the best surf spots are.
Michael would like to use the knowledge he has gained from his previous studies, and the experiences he has from traveling, in reporting about diverse issues in New Zealand and throughout the world.
