Steven Ratuva

Dr Sitiveni Ratuva is Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and director of the MacMillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

He is currently writing a book on regional security with Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia as case studies as well as working on a book on the 2006 riots in Tonga.

The political scientist previously taught at the University of Auckland's Centre for Pacific Studies and is a former president of the Pacific Islands Political Studies Association.

Dr Ratuva's research focuses on conflict, conflict resolution and peace studies, military civil relations and regime-change, governance and electoral systems, and indigenous knowledge and intellectual property rights.

He is on the editorial board of Pacific Journalism Review.
