Struan Purdie is a born and bred South Islander who moved to Auckland to pursue a career in journalism.
Three and a half years on, he has now completed a Bachelor of Communications Studies at AUT University and is currently finishing off his Honours year and is on the Asia-Pacific Journalism course.
In the past, Struan has worked as a journalist and news presenter for Rhema Media, as well as spending time at both Auckland's Central Leader newspaper and Hawke's Bay Today.
Having just returned from an exchange semester at the Danish School of Media and Journalism on the Inclusive Journalism Initiative (IJI) programme, Struan is continuing to hone his skills in broadcast journalism with a specific focus on current affairs and documentary making .
For Struan, visual storytelling holds a special place within journalism as a medium which effectively connects audiences to reallife people, places and issues.
