The Fiji government says it will formally complain about the New Zealand Herald reporting earlier this year that the country's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, was dead, reports Radio Australia' Pacific Beat.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the complaint will be sent to the New Zealand Media Council.

Bruce Hill asked him why the story about Commodore's alleged death has sparked such a strong response.
