AUCKLAND (AUT Journalism/Pacific Media Watch): The last voyage of the original Rainbow Warrior to Rongelap and the Marshall Islands three decades ago had a huge impact on the crew.
Pete Willcox, an American and the only person to have been captain of all three Greenpeace flagships carrying the name Rainbow Warrior, reflects here in an interview with Senka Bosnyak.
He talks about the Rongelap evacuation in May 1985, what inspires him, environmental activism and the challenge of climate change.
He also throws down a global challenge to young people today - "get involved and do something", it is healthier and better for the planet.
The interview at New Zealand's Auckland University of Technology Media Centre was published on the anniversary of the Rainbow Warrior's arrival in Auckland - three days before the bombing on 10 July 1985.
