AUDIO: Government intimidation forces closure of Kiribati paper, says editor

MELBOURNE (Radio Australia Pacific Beat / Pacific Media Watch): The Kiribati Independent newspaper has announced it will stop publishing immediately, while an investigation ordered by the Kiribati government is carried out by police.

On Monday, police visited the newspaper's offices to investigate complaints from the Ministry of Communications that the publisher had breached newspaper registration guidelines.
