SUVA (Fiji Village/Pacific Media Watch): Fiji TV have apologised to the public broadcaster, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, today. This comes after FBC chief executive, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, made a complaint about a Fiji TV news story regarding the Wasea Bhasha issue.
'Twisted and manipulated'
Sayed-Khaiyum claimed the news story that aired on Fiji TV had "twisted and manipulated" details which had caused harm to himself and FBC.
Nouzab Fareed, the chief executive of Fijian Holdings Limited, which is the majority shareholder of Fiji TV, told Fiji Village that he agreed inappropiate words were used in the news story.
Fareed has formally apologised on behalf of Fiji TV and said an apology would be aired later today in the evening news.
According to FBC, Sayed-Khaiyum, had asked for the formal apology and retraction of the story from Fiji TV's website and social media by the end of Monday's business hours, but the apology did not go to air until Tuesday.
The matter has been filed with the Media Industry Development Authority.
