SUVA: The sacrifice made by students of Fiji National University’s media and journalism school was rewarded today as they launched their first ever video production.

Head of the Journalism Department Elia Vesikula says the production would not have been possible without sacrifices made by the enthusiastic students.

“The kind of journalists that we are building now is not only those that have mental capacity to write stories but those that have heart for the people and tell the truth, and this means that sometimes you have to sacrifice as well.”

Student journalist Adi Losalini Vuki told FBC News some of the principles they had learnt through the course.

“The first thing is that you should follow the code of ethics and you will never go wrong. Secondly is the cooperation and the trust within yourself and this will never let you go wrong.”

The video production features a musical concert – titled "Sa moce Nasinu" – a farewell to what used to be the Nasinu Teachers' College.

FNU also launched its radio news bulletin - and the media and journalism web page – which is broadcast by the students.- Fiji Broadcasting Corporation/Pacific Media Watch
